Helping local businesses with their sustainable practices is one of our favourite parts of the work we do here at ENGIE UK. We particularly enjoy working with local brewers and larger organisations to help improve their organic waste streams. Recently, we have been working alongside the Devonshire craft cider press, Sandford Orchards, to convert their apple pomace into green energy. The energy produced with each delivery will help power 97 homes with green electricity, or 25 homes with biomethane.

We have also been receiving apple pomace from another cider producer through our close relationship with AB Agri Ltd. We are due to take 3,000 tonnes from this cider company, which will generate sufficient electricity to power 583 homes over the next 12 months, or enough biomethane to allow an articulated lorry delivering our apple pomace to drive 400,000 miles on apple gas! How do you like them apples?

As West Country cider lovers ourselves, these partnerships are of real value to us. We hope to continue supporting local businesses and using the green energy we produce to power our communities.
