Last week, ENGIE UK opened the doors of our Gorst Energy plant to the 3rd Exmouth Cub Scout troop.

The troop were given an interactive tour of the site where we explained the benefits of anaerobic digestion (AD) in waste management, as well as its key part in the UK’s journey to Net Zero. We also discussed AD’s role in ensuring that the UK becomes more self-sufficient in its production of energy.

Our young visitors were walked through the process of turning farm waste into digestate: passing it through the AD system, and then distributing the power directly to the National Grid, as well as local Clyst St Mary homes and businesses.

Providing informative tours like this to all ages brings the energy industry to life. This is especially important for younger people and we are proud to play our part inspiring future generations’ interest in the alternative energy sources available to us, as well as increasing their knowledge of broader renewable solutions.

Did you know, we offer tours to everyone! In the past, we have had visitors from all over the globe, including North Devon and Torridge councillors, the South Molton Twinning Association’s French counterparts, and Exeter City Council’s Net Zero team, plus many more. We are always happy to provide guided tours of our AD facilities to anyone who is curious about them.

Get in touch with us to book your own guided tour, or contact us to find out more – we hope to see you soon.
